광명시, 종이형 광명사랑화폐 4월 출시

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=광명 이현준기자] 광명시는 오는 4월부터 카드형 광명사랑화폐에 이어 종이 형태의 지류형 지역화폐를 전격 도입한다.

시는 2월 27일 한국조폐공사, NH농협은행 광명시지부, 광명농협과 업무협약을 체결하고 지류형 화폐의 안정적인 발행과 유통 관리를 위해 협력하기로 했다. 이번 협약에 따라 한국조폐공사는 보안 기술이 적용된 상품권 제조를 맡고 농협은 판매와 환전 업무를 담당하며 시는 행정적 지원을 총괄한다.

지류형 지역화폐 도입의 핵심 목적은 디지털 취약계층 포용과 지역순환경제 강화다. 그동안 스마트폰 앱 사용이나 카드 발급에 익숙하지 않아 지역화폐 혜택에서 소외됐던 어르신 등 시민들이 종이 상품권을 통해 보다 직관적이고 편리하게 소비 혜택을 누릴 수 있게 됐다. 또한 시는 주요 관광지 방문객에게 입장료 일부를 지류형 화폐로 환급해주는 정책을 통해 외지인의 소비를 전통시장과 골목상권으로 유입시키는 마중물로 활용할 계획이다.

광명사랑화폐는 2019년 발행 이후 올해 1월 누적 발행액 1조 원을 돌파하며 지역의 대표 결제 수단으로 확고히 자리 잡았다. 이는 경기도 내 인구 30만 명 미만 시군 중 최초의 기록이며 시민 1인당 발행액 또한 도내 1위를 기록할 만큼 높은 호응을 얻고 있다.
