평택시의회, 제19회 청소년의회 개최

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=평택 이현준기자] 평택시의회가 지난 5일과 8일 시의회 본회의장에서 관내 청소년들을 대상으로 제19회 청소년의회를 개최했다.

이번 행사는 청소년들이 지방의회의 역할과 기능을 직접 배우고 의회 민주주의를 체험할 수 있도록 마련됐다.

효명고등학교와 종덕초등학교 학생들이 각각 참여해 학생 등하교 교통 편의 증진 조례안과 공공시설 확충에 관한 조례안을 상정했으며 제안설명, 찬반토론, 전자투표 등 실제 조례 제정 과정을 체험했다. 이어 진행된 의원과의 대화에서 학생들은 대중교통 배차 간격 개선을 건의하고 의정활동에 대해 질문하는 등 의원들과 소통하는 시간을 가졌다.

이번 청소년의회는 학생들이 실제 조례안 심의 과정을 직접 주도하며 교과서 밖의 생생한 민주적 의사결정 방식을 습득하고 성숙한 민주 시민으로서의 자질을 기르는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.
