용인특례시, 경기남부광역철도 최종보고회 개최

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=용인 이현준기자] 용인특례시는 10일 용인ㆍ성남ㆍ수원ㆍ화성 4개 시가 공동으로 추진한 경기남부광역철도 사전타당성 조사용역 최종보고회가 열렸다.

이날 시는 성남ㆍ수원ㆍ화성 등 3개 시와 경기남부광역철도를 제5차 국가철도망 구축계획에 반영하기 위한 추가 활동 방안과 향후 계획을 논의했다.

‘경기남부광역철도’는 용인 등 4개 시가 서울지하철 2‧9호선 종합운동장역에서 수서역을 거쳐 성남 판교, 용인 수지구 신봉‧성복, 수원 광교, 화성 봉담까지 잇는 50.7㎞의 광역철도 신설 사업이다.

출퇴근 시간대 교통정체가 심각한 용서고속도로의 교통 혼잡을 완화하고, 신봉동·성복동 일대에 역이 들어서면서 수지구 주민들의 교통 편의도 좋아질 것으로 예상된다.

경기남부광역철도가 신설되면 ‘동백~신봉선’ 신설에도 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것이라고 이상일 시장은 최근 경기남부광역철도 조기 착공을 위한 걷기대회에서 밝힌 바 있다. 경기남부광역철도가 신설되면 신봉동에서 동백~신봉선과 연결되기 때문이다.
