경과원, 연구실 사고 예방 위한 안전교육·모의훈련 실시

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=수원 이현준기자] 경기도경제과학진흥원은 지난 19일과 28일 경기바이오센터에서 연구실 사고 예방과 대응 역량 강화를 위한 안전교육과 모의훈련을 진행했다고 29일 밝혔다.

이번 훈련은 연구실 안전사고가 매년 300여 건 이상 발생하는 상황을 반영해 마련됐다. 과학기술정보통신부가 발간한 ‘연구실 사고 사례집’에 따르면 2021년부터 2023년까지 3년간 전국 연구실에서 1,012건의 사고가 발생한 것으로 나타났다.

이에 따라 안전관리실은 연구실 이용자들의 실무 역량을 높이고, 사고 발생 시 신속하게 대응할 수 있는 공동체계를 확립하고자 교육을 추진했다.

훈련에는 경기바이오센터 연구진뿐 아니라 학생·인턴, 에듀스테이션 교육생, 랩스테이션 입주사 관계자 등 외부 이용자까지 포함돼 총 60여 명이 참여했다.

교육은 이론과 실습으로 구분해 진행됐으며, 19일 이론 교육에서는 타 기관의 연구실 사고 사례 분석, 경기바이오센터 내 대응 사례 공유, 소방설비 작동법 등 실무 중심의 프로그램으로 구성됐다.

특히 28일에는 화학물질 누출, 유해가스 발생 등 실제 상황을 가정한 모의훈련이 이어졌다. 참가자들은 비상샤워기 및 스필키트 사용법, 보호구 착용과 대피 절차, 완강기를 활용한 비상 탈출 등을 직접 체험했다.

유해물질 유출 시 초기 대응과 같은 고위험 상황 대응능력을 집중적으로 훈련해 참가자들의 실질적 역량을 강화했다.

경과원은 이번 훈련을 계기로 연구실 안전관리를 더욱 체계화할 계획이다. 분기별 연구실 안전점검 강화, 신규 연구원 대상 안전 교육 의무화, 사고 대응 매뉴얼의 정기적 개정, 우수 사례 공유 등을 추진하며 연구현장에서의 안전문화를 확산해 나갈 계획이다.
