[브레이크뉴스경기남부=평택 이현준기자] 경기평택항만공사는 지난 17일 네덜란드 로테르담에서 개최된 TOC 유럽 2025 컨퍼런스에 참가하여 대한민국 대표 자동차 항만으로서 지속 성장 발전 계획과 지난 3월 착공한 평택항 배후단지(2-3단계) 홍보 및 우수 해외기업 유치 유럽 포트세일즈를 실시했다.

TOC 유럽 2025 컨퍼런스는 1976년 최초 개최된 유럽 최대 규모 항만·물류 전문 컨퍼런스로, 6월 17일부터 6월 19일까지 약 3일간 전세계 항만운영사, 선사, 물류기업, 투자자 등 100여개국 약 4천여명이 참석했다.

금번 유럽 포트세일즈는 미국 트럼프 정부의 자동차 관세 정책으로 한국산 자동차 및 관련 부품의 미국 수출 환경이 불투명한 가운데, 이러한 환경 변화에 대응하고 대한민국 자동차 수출입 1위 항만으로 지속 성장하기 위해 유럽 지역으로의 시장 다변화를 지원하고자 마련됐다.

평택항 배후단지 2-3단계(1종)는 2024년에 준공한 신국제여객터미널 바로 옆에 위치하고 있으며 업무편의시설과 물류제조시설 부지 약 22만 9,093㎡를 조성하는 사업으로 총사업비 약 690억원이 투입되어 2027년 준공 예정이다.

경기평택항만공사 김석구 사장은 “지난 2월 세계적 자동차 항만인 벨기에 안트워프-지브뤼헤항, 그리고 유럽지역 대표 자동차 전용 운반 선사 왈레니우스윌헬름센(Wallenius Willhelmsen) 등과 직접 만나 유럽지역 자동차 수출입 확대 방안을 협의하였고. 이번 TOC 유럽 컨퍼런스 참가를 통해 평택항 자동차 특화 미래 전략과 항만배후단지2-3단계 개발계획을 소개하고, 향후 IMO(국제해사기구) 이산화탄소 감축 기준 충족 등을 위한 평택항과 유럽항만 간 친환경 선박 항로(Green Shipping Corridor) 구축 등 세계적 자동차 항만으로 지속 발전시켜 나갈 계획이다”라고 말했다.
