교통약자지원센터는 지난해 8월부터 안전운전을 통한 이용객의 안전보장과 양질의 서비스 제공을 위해 안전운전인증을 추진하기 시작했다.

안전운전인증은 해당 프로그램을 통해 교통안전관리체계를 개선한 후 그 성과에 대해 도로교통공단이 심의하여 교통 안전성을 인증하는 제도이다.

교통약자지원센터에서는 안전운전을 위해 4차에 걸친 기본교육과 심리상담교육, 사고다발자교육 등을 비롯해 5개의 심화교육을 이수하였다. 이러한 교육을 통해 운전 시 사고 예방 중심으로 의식을 전환하고 항상 안전운전하는 습관을 체득하게 되었다.

그 결과 교통사고율은 시행 전 대비 약 9%p 감소하는 성과를 거둬 교통약자가 더 안전하게 이동할 수 있는 기반을 만들었다.
