이번 사업은 관내 초등학생을 대상으로 독서능력진단검사를 실시해 개별 진단 결과에 따라 맞춤형 독서 지도 방안을 제공하는 것이 목적이다.

올해 검사 대상을 지난해보다 약 4배 늘려 총 600명에게 검사를 제공한다. 최근 디지털 매체의 사용 증가로 초등학생 독해력과 학습 능력 저하 문제가 사회적으로 꾸준히 제기되면서 올해 독서능력진단검사 지원 사업을 대폭 확대했다는 것이 시의 설명이다.
