[브레이크뉴스경기남부=용인 이현준기자] 용인특례시는 친환경농업에 사용되는 유용미생물을 농가에 무상으로 공급한다고 16일 밝혔다.

시는 2023년부터 2024년까지 총 23억 원을 투입해 농업기술센터 내 친환경 미생물연구생산실을 기존 375㎡에서 499㎡로 증축했고, 배양장비를 교체·확충하고, 자동분주 시스템을 도입하는 등 생산 인프라를 강화했다.

시설 개선·확충 이후 생산량이 늘어난 것은 물론이고 배양 환경이 안정되면서 시가 생산하는 미생물의 균수는 비료생산업 기준의 100배 수준인 1×10⁸cfu/mL 이상을 유지하게 돼 품질이 크게 좋아졌다는 평가를 받고 있다.

현재 생산 중인 미생물은 ▲고초균 ▲유산균 ▲효모 ▲광합성균 등 4종이며, 농업에 유용한 생리활성물질과 항균물질을 포함하고 있어 토양 개량과 작물 생육 촉진, 병해 예방 등에 효과적이다.

시가 공급하는 유용미생물의 품질이 향상되면서 농가의 수요도 함께 증가해, 올해 1월부터 4월까지 유용미생물 공급량은 64톤이나 됐다. 이는 지난해 같은 기간 공급량 29톤 대비 121% 늘어난 것이다.
