[브레이크뉴스경기남부=화성 이현준기자] 화성특례시가 ‘2025 대한민국 ESG경제대상’에서 지자체 부문 종합대상으로 선정됐다.

ESG경제, 한국ESG평가원, KOSRA(국지속가능성인증포럼) 주최로 대한상공회의소 중회의실에서 열린 이번 시상식은 대한민국의 지속 가능한 발전에 기여한 기관과 기업을 격려하기 위해 마련됐다.

한국ESG평가원은 243개 광역·기초 지방자치단체를 환경(E)·사회(S)·지배구조(G) 3개 분야별 28개 세부목표로 평가하는 ‘지방자치단체 ESG 평가’를 매년 실시하고 있다.

시는 2023년과 2024년 평가에서 2년 연속으로 1위에 선정됐으며, 2024년 평가에서 기초 지방자치단체 중 유일하게 A+ 등급을 달성했다.

시는 ‘환경을 이(E)롭게 사회를 새(S)롭게 소통을 균(G)형있게’를 슬로건으로, ▲화성형 보타닉가든 조성 ▲공유부지 활용 RE100 사업 ▲공공부문 탄소중립 실현 ▲자살예방 핫라인 운영 ▲시민 주요 관심사업 설명회 ▲ESG 교육․캠페인 및 경영 컨설팅 추진 등 ESG 경영사업을 추진한 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

시는 지난해 수립한 ESG 기본계획에 따라 공공, 기업, 시민이 함께 참여하는 거버넌스를 하반기 출범해, 상생발전을 위한 화성형 ESG 정책을 더욱 확장 추진할 예정이다.
