첨단산업의 흐름을 파악하고 국제교류 활성화를 위해 미국을 방문 중인 이상일 시장은 이날 페어팩스 카운티 경제개발청에서 제프리 맥케이(Jeffrey Mckay) 페어팩스 카운티 의장을 만나 우호결연 협약서에 서명했다.

 

이번 협약으로 페어팩스 카운티는 미국의 카운티급 도시로서는 용인과 교류협약을 체결한 두 번째 도시가 됐다. 용인은 지난해 9월 28일 미국 윌리엄슨 카운티와 자매결연을 맺었고, 현지시각 1월 9일 이상일 시장이 미국을 방문해 현지에서도 자매결연식을 가졌다.
