9일 시에 따르면 이날 오후 기흥구 중동에 있는 초당중학교를 방문해 이 시장은 학부모들이 부실시공의 문제를 제기한 신관 건물, 학교 주변에 있는 토리공원의 조명과 폐쇄회로(CC)TV 설치 상황 등을 살핀 소식을 전했다.

 

이 시장의 학교 현장점검은 10월 2일 기흥구 중학교 학부모회장들과의 간담회에서 나온 초당중학교 변정민 학부모회장의 문제 제기를 직접 확인하고, 지원 방안을 모색하기 위한 것이다.

 

간담회에서 변정민 학부모회장은 ”학교 운동장 규모를 줄이면서까지 새 교실이 포함된 건물을 신축했는데 누수와 균열, 에어컨 고장 등의 문제가 발생해 보수공사가 이뤄졌지만, 땜질하는 정도에 그쳐 새로 지은 건물이 제 역할을 하지 못하고 있고 학생들도 마음 놓고 학업을 하지 못하고 있다“며 ”하자보수가 제대로 이뤄질 수 있도록 시가 도와달라“고 말했다.
