임태희 교육감, “국민들께 사랑받는 공교육을 위해 모두 힘 합치자”

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=수원 이귀선기자] 임태희 교육감은 12일 도교육청에서 열린 2024년 전국 시도교육청 교육국장 협의회(이하 협의회)에서 “대한민국 공교육이 국민께 신뢰를 쌓고 사랑받을 수 있도록 모두 힘을 합치자”고 강조했다.

협의회는 분기별로 이뤄지며 금번 3분기에는 경기도교육청이 주관했다. 이 자리에는 임 교육감과 17개 시도교육청 교육국장, 전국 시도교육감협의회와 교육부 관계자 등 70여 명이 참석했다.

협의회 주요 내용은 ▲교육부 주요 교육정책 안내 ▲전국 시·도교육감협의회 정책 공유 ▲시도교육청별 교육정책 현안 주제 토의 ▲교육정책 우수사례 공유 등으로 구성했다.

특히 시도교육청별 교육정책 현안 주제 토의에서는 ▲모든 학생의 성장을 지원하는 기초학력 책임 지도 방안 ▲교원의 인공지능(AI) 기반 교수학습역량 강화 추진 방안에 시도교육청별 추진 상황을 안내하며 함께 의견을 나눴다.

참석자들은 도교육청이 시행 중인 ‘스마트워크 운영시스템’을 둘러보고 인공지능 및 교육정보기술(에듀테크) 기반의 미래교육 환경 구축과 선진화된 운영 방식을 참관했다.

임 교육감은 환영사에서 “오늘 참석하신 교육국장님들은 평생 교육 분야에서 전문가로 애써 오시고 지금은 대한민국 유초중등 교육정책을 이끌고 나가시는 분들”이라면서 “교육감으로 일하면서 교육가족에 대한 믿음이 생기고 대한민국 교육자 역량이 다른 나라보다 가장 우수하다고 생각한다”고 말했다.

이어 “경기교육은 공교육이 교육의 중심이 되도록 하자는 마음으로 학교 교육을 중심으로 경기공유학교와 경기온라인학교를 운영해 공교육 영역을 확장해 나가고 있다”면서 “지역의 특성에 따라 선의의 경쟁도 하고 협조도 하면서 다양한 형태의 공교육 시스템을 적용해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.

임 교육감은 “이 자리에 함께하신 모든 분이 공교육의 미래에 대해 함께 고민하는 자리가 되길 바란다”면서 “한국 공교육이 국민들로부터 신뢰를 쌓고, 신뢰를 회복하고, 사랑받는 공교육이 될 수 있도록 모두 힘을 합쳐 주시길 바란다”고 당부했다.

한편 협의회는 오는 13일까지 진행한다. 1분기 제주, 2분기 부산에 이어 오는 4분기에는 대구 지역에서 개최할 예정이다.
