평택시, 지역 내 방공호 문화재 등록 추진

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=평택 이귀선기자] 평택시(시장 정장선)는 일제 강점기에 조성된 것으로 추정되는 선말산과 부용산 방공호의 성격을 조사하고 기초자료 확보를 위해 ‘평택 선말산 및 부용산 방공호 학술조사 용역’ 착수보고회를 4일 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 학술조사는 방공호 조성시기와 성격을 규명하고 역사적 맥락을 살펴보기 위해 추진됐다. 특히 함정리의 선말산 방공호는 지역사학자들의 노력으로 최근 새롭게 조명돼 학술조사의 필요성이 제기된 바 있다.

이번 학술조사 용역을 수행 중인 경기대학교 안창모 교수는 태평양전쟁 시기 일본해군에 의해 건설된 평택의 항공기지와 방공호와의 연관성을 살펴볼 예정이며, 현재까지 알려진 방공호 외에도 추가적인 방공호 시설이 부용산과 선말산에 존재할 가능성을 염두에 두고 조사를 진행할 예정이라고 밝혔다.
