[브레이크뉴스경기남부=수원 이귀선기자] 경기도가 환경부 추진 2023년 폐기물 처리사업 운영실태 평가에서 전국 1위를 차지했다.

‘폐기물 처리사업 운영실태 평가’는 환경부와 한국환경공단에서 전국 17개 광역자치단체를 대상으로 생활폐기물 발생량, 생활폐기물 관리예산 자립률, 최종처분율, 순환이용률 4개 분야 생활폐기물 처리 전반에 대해 평가하는 제도다.

5일 경기도에 따르면 총점 92점으로 전 분야에서 우수한 성적을 거뒀으며 특히 생활폐기물 발생량, 최종처분율과 순환이용률 3개 분야에서 만점을 획득했다고 밝혔다.

경기도는 그간 폐기물 감축, 재활용 우선 정책, 폐기물처리시설 적기확충 등 자원순환분야 정책사업을 적극적으로 수행해 경기도 순환경제로의 전환을 위해 노력해 왔다.

2019년부터 생활폐기물 감축을 위해 깨끗한 경기 만들기 사업(5개 분야 36개 세부사업)을 추진하고 있으며, 시군의 자원순환분야 정책발굴을 위한 평가를 통해 폐기물 선진 정책을 적극 이행하고 있다. 시군에서 발굴한 우수사례는 정책으로 공유해 활용되고 있다.

2021년 전국 최초로 배달앱 다회용기 사업을 추진해 경기도 전 지역으로 확대해 나가고 있으며, 장례식장과 지역축제, 공공시설로 범위를 넓혀 일회용품 사용을 억제하고 재활용률을 확대해 나가고 있다.

또한 생활폐기물 직매립 금지에 대비해 생활폐기물 매립량을 1,107톤/일에서 1,014톤으로 줄이는 등 최종처분율을 낮추고 매립량을 줄여나가고 있다.
