[브레이크뉴스경기남부=수원 김정은기자] 경기도해양수산자원연구소가 지난 5월부터 3개월간 화성시 국화도 등 3개소에 3배체 개체 굴 시험 양식을 실시했다.

경기도에 따르면 3배체 개체 굴은 4배체 수컷과 2배체 암컷의 생식을 통해 염색체 3쌍을 가지고 태어난 굴이다. 3배체 굴은 모두 불임인데 번식에 들어갈 에너지를 성장에 쓰기 때문에 일반 굴에 비해 크기가 크고 맛도 좋다는 특징이 있다.

이 때문에 일반 굴의 1kg당 가격이 1,500원 정도인 데 비해 3배체 개체 굴은 약 10배가량 비싸 고소득을 올릴 수 있는 품종이다.
