이상일 시장, “첨단과학영농 등 시대 흐름 맞춘 지원으로 농업 저변 확대할 것” 

 

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=용인 이귀선기자] 용인특례시(시장 이상일)는 용인그린대학 제17기 교육생과 제8기 대학원생들의 입학식을 열었다.

 

24일 용인특례시에 따르면 지난 23일 농업인재 육성과 귀농 희망자의 안정적 정착을 돕기 위해 운영 중인 이날 농업기술센터 2층 대강당에서 열린 입학식은 용인그린대학 총장인 이상일 용인특례시장과 교육생 등 120여명이 참여했다고 밝혔다.

 

이 시장은 “오늘 입학한 교육생들이 용인시농업기술센터에서 많은 배움을 얻어 생활농업으로 삶을 윤택하게 만들기 바란다”며 “도시화로 인해 나라의 근간인 농업이 위축된 게 사실이지만 용인시농업기술센터는 다른 고장에서 벤치마킹을 할 정도로 기술력에서 앞서나가고 있고 첨단과학영농 등 시대의 흐름에 맞는 연구, 지원으로 농업 저변을 발전시켜나가고 있다”고 말했다.

 

이 시장은 “앞서 이곳에서 농업에 대한 많은 노하우를 배워간 1400여 동문들과 잘 화합해 용인이라는 생활공동체를 만드는 데 큰 역할을 해주길 바란다”며 “시민들이 농업에 대한 사랑과 애정을 가지도록 시에서도 많은 지원을 해나가겠다”고 말했다.

 

올해는 그린농업과 40명, 생활농업과 40명을 비롯해 대학원 수목관리과정 30명 등 총 110명이 입학했다.

 

이들은 오는 11월까지 수목생리, 전지전정, 삽목, 작물재배, 치유농업 등 다양한 농업 기술을 익히는 수업을 받는다. 특히 스마트팜 테스트베드, 농산물가공지원센터 등 시가 보유한 자체 시설을 활용한 현장 실습도 할 수 있다.

 

수강료와 교재비는 무료이며 일부 실습비와 견학비 등 자부담한다.
