[브레이크뉴스경기남부=시흥 이귀선기자] 시흥시(시장 임병택)는 지난 2021년 12월 31일에 개정·공포된 ‘자원의 절약과 재활용촉진에 관한 법률 시행규칙’ 개정안 시행에 따른 1회용품 사용규제를 24일부터 강화한다.

이번 1회용품 사용규제에는 종이컵, 플라스틱 빨대·젓는 막대, 우산비닐이 추가됐고, 무상판매 금지 품목이었던 비닐봉투 및 쇼핑백은 종합소매업종 등을 대상으로 사용이 금지된다.

위반사항 적발 시 기존 시행중인 품목에는 자원의 절약과 재활용촉진에 관한 법률에 따라 300만원 이하의 과태료가 부과되지만, 환경부의 지침에 따라 확대 시행되는 품목은1년간 참여형 계도기간을 운영한다.

시 관계자는 “1회용품 사용규제가 본격화됨에 따라 제도의 조기 정착을 위해 내달 초까지집중 홍보를 진행할 계획이다”라면서 “그간 코로나19 확산과 무분별한 1회용품 사용 분위기형성에 따른 1회용품 사용량 증가로 생활폐기물 처리 문제가 사회적 문제로 대두되고 있는 만큼, 시민들의적극적인 참여와 협조를 당부드린다”고 강조했다.
